It's tough, easy to maintain and absorbs moisture well. It is important to be aware that pure cotton is heavy, so long knits can sag downwards due to their weight. Cotton does not have the springiness of wool, so columns or patterns may be looser (we recommend knitting with a stiffer fabric). Ideal for highlighting holes and textures - every stitch is very clearly visible.

Linen: Linen offers excellent thermoregulation: it absorbs moisture and helps it evaporate, keeping the skin cool even in hot weather. It is one of the strongest plant fibres and becomes softer with washing. Linen may feel firm while you knit, but it softens noticeably after washing. It has little natural elasticity. This means that the knitted garment will keep its shape perfectly (for example, the collar or shoulder line). Linen is prone to wrinkling. This is not a defect but a sign of the authenticity of the fibre. Linen is heavier than cotton, and we recommend a linen/cotton blend when knitting large items - the garment will be lighter and softer from the start.

Silk:

Silk is a protein fibre produced mainly by silkworm larvae as they spin their cocoons. It is smooth, strong for its weight and able to absorb moisture while remaining comfortable against the skin. Silk also helps regulate temperature. When knitting with pure silk, use smooth needles that will not split the yarn; wooden or bamboo needles can provide more control. If the collar or cuffs need extra stability, a fine elastic thread can be worked into the edges.

Lyocell (Tencel), Viscose and Modal: Artificial but natural fibres. These are fibres made from wood cellulose. They have a silky softness, cool the skin and give the garment a special fall. The oldest and cheapest of the three fibres- viscose, It is made from a variety of woods (pine, beech, bamboo). It is cooler than cotton and has a very intense colour absorption, which is why rayon yarns are the brightest. Modal an improved version of viscose, made exclusively from beechwood. More resistant to fading and shrinkage than ordinary viscose. It remains incredibly soft even after many washes in hard water. Lyocell (Tencel) The most modern and environmentally friendly fibre, made from Eucalyptus wood using „closed-loop“ technology. It evaporates moisture better than any other fibre, making it suitable for people who sweat more heavily or have extremely sensitive skin.

Soya fibre: Often called vegetable cashmere. It is incredibly gentle, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin. Soya fibre naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria and absorbs and evaporates moisture perfectly, so your knitwear stays fresh for longer. It is one of the few fibres that has a natural resistance to ultraviolet rays. Soya fibre is usually blended with cotton (for stability) or wool (for warmth and shape memory). Hand wash only in cool water. Hot water can „kill“ the lustre of the yarn and make it rough.

Bamboo: The main advantage of bamboo viscose is its exceptional softness. It suits baby garments and sensitive skin, feels cool and absorbs moisture well. Because the fibre has little natural elasticity, heavier garments may stretch under their own weight. Use slightly smaller needles and a firmer gauge; wooden or bamboo needles can make the slippery yarn easier to control. needles give more control than metal ones.

As the seasons change, so does the rhythm of our cords.
