Tropical Lane VELATO – variegated yarn with a soft halo

Tropical Lane VELATO – a variegated chainette yarn that combines several fibres. Colour transitions and a soft surface halo add character, so even plain stocking stitch or a simple textured pattern can produce an expressive result.

The yarn contains 40% cotton, 30% polyamide, 10% acrylic, 10% baby alpaca and 10% merino wool. Cotton, alpaca, merino and synthetic fibres form one lightweight, variegated chainette. Each 50 g ball contains approximately 160 metres. The manufacturer recommends 4–4.5 mm knitting needles or a 4 mm crochet hook.

What can you knit with VELATO yarn?

VELATO is suitable for sweaters, vests, cardigans, scarves, shawls, hats and other autumn or winter accessories. Before a larger project, knit a swatch: it will show both the gauge and how the colours and soft halo distribute across your chosen pattern.

Calculate the quantity from the total yarn length stated in the pattern, the chosen size and your own gauge. For the whole project, select enough balls from the same dye lot at the outset.

Choosing and caring for VELATO

The manufacturer advises hand washing at up to 30 °C, without bleach or tumble drying. Steam only if ironing is needed. Dry the finished knit flat and always follow the care symbols on the yarn label.
