DROPS NORD – versatile yarn for Nordic comfort
DROPS Nord is a 4-ply fingering yarn made from 45% superfine alpaca, 30% polyamide and 25% wool. Alpaca adds softness, wool helps the fabric keep its shape, and polyamide provides durability. It is well suited to warm everyday garments and accessories.
What is it suitable for?
- Socks, mittens, hats, scarves and other accessories.
- Lightweight jumpers, vests and layering pieces.
- Nordic colourwork, cables and lace where clear stitch definition matters.
Working details
Each 50 g ball contains approximately 170 m. The manufacturer recommends 3 mm needles and a tension of 24 stitches × 32 rows per 10 × 10 cm. Knit and wash a swatch before starting to check the tension.
Care
DROPS Nord is not Superwash treated. Hand wash only at up to 30 °C and dry flat. Airing the garment between wears may reduce the need for washing.
Certification and origin
The yarn is produced in Peru and the EU. The alpaca and wool come from South America, and the polyamide from Germany. DROPS Nord is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Class I, certificate No. 2013OK0060, issued by the Aitex Technical Textile Institute. Class I covers products for babies aged 0–3 years.
