DROPS PUNA – light and warm alpaca yarn
DROPS PUNA is a four-ply DROPS yarn made from 100% alpaca. The light, warm and smooth strand suits garments and accessories where natural fibres and clear stitch definition matter.
What makes DROPS PUNA special?
- Natural texture: the fibre is only washed before dyeing and receives no additional chemical treatment, helping preserve the characteristic alpaca texture.
- Warmth without weight: alpaca provides warmth without making the finished garment heavy.
- Four-ply construction: the fabric looks smooth while cables and other textured stitches remain well defined.
- Certification: the manufacturer states OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification, meaning the product has been tested against the requirements of this standard.
Project ideas
DROPS PUNA is suitable for jumpers, scarves, hats, vests and cosy blankets. Fibre sensitivity varies, so knit and wash a swatch before making a garment that will be worn next to the skin.
Tip
A 100% alpaca strand is less elastic than sheep’s wool. For large or heavier projects, choose a suitable tension and assess the washed swatch to reduce stretching under the garment’s own weight.
